The automated inspection of offshore wind farms is still a young segment. Based on the experience gained from our numerous mainland inspection flights, all hardware and software processes and procedures have been refined down to the last detail and optimized for the offshore environment. This enables us to do the first inspection flights in the North Sea and Baltic Sea in 2018.
In the offshore sector, hardware and software developed by Aero Enterprise is used only:
AERO-Offshore SensorCopter: Specially developed for marine requirements – autopiloted, robust, capable of strong winds up to approx. 14 m/s (50 km/h or 27 kts) suitable for use in saltwater environment, buoyant and easy to transport. This ensures a high level of operational readiness – even if industrial climbers are no longer allowed to work on the wind turbine for labour law reasons.
AERO-Offshore Ground Station: Transportable and equipped with redundant instruments for monitoring the automated flights
AERO-Software-Package: This offers the possibility, via various hierarchies of online access, to involve external or in-house reviewers and specialists in the appraisal. The package includes all data evaluation, analysis and reporting processes.
The external optical inspections of wind turbines are realized by aerial robots. The involved components are rotor blades (from all 4 sides!), spinner, as well as optional, nacelle and tower.
The (autonomous) aerial survey is carried out by Aero Enterprise using the self-developed Helicopter-drone AERO-SensorCopter.
The collected data are processed by Aero Enterprise, get standardized and available for displaying in the free license AERO-View.
In the following step the gathered data can be analysed by the license AERO-Lyse. Abnormalities can be quantified, qualified and classified according to the amount of damage. This can be done by Aero Enterprise itself, by the customer or by a qualified external expert.
A digital technical report is generated automatically under use of the database AERO-Base by only one click. On request customized status reports can be carried out.
